To help build the skills of SA surf athletes by giving youth athletes aged 14 – 19 and Open athletes the best opportunity to compete at the top level.
The Seacliff Surf Sports Academy is driven to develop committed South Australian Surf Sports athletes by providing logistical support for athletes to compete interstate against the country’s best athletes, wherever they may be.
Additionally, The Academy endeavors to provide South Australian athletes with access to the best levels of coaching and tuition to improve their overall surf skills.
Following a successful 2022 national Aussies campaign, a plan was put to and fully supported by the Management Committee of the Seacliff SLSC to establish the Seacliff Surf Sports Academy to raise funds outside of the Clubs’ usual grant and fundraising functions to support committed athletes.
The Academy is creating a unique opportunity for SA athletes to compete on the national stage.
The Academy is complimentary to athlete support offered by the Club.
The Academy’s function is to raise funds to assist in offsetting the logistical costs associated with interstate competition costs, and to ensure committed coaching and other growth opportunities for athletes.
The Academy is auspiced by Seacliff SLSC and is governed by a committee of 5, 4 elected direct to the Academy and 1 appointed by Seacliff SLSC to oversee the activities of the Academy.
This person has a right of veto over Academy decisions which results in the matter being determined by Seacliff SLSC Management Committee.

Athletes generally aged 14-19 and Open competitors who show commitment to training and embrace the Club ethos, who coaches, and the Academy Committee believe would benefit from and grow with exposure to competition across Australia, competing against the best in these age groups.
The Academy was created by Seacliff SLSC in 2022/23 to support the Mission and Vision outlined above.
The Academy is complimentary too and does not replace the Clubs obligations nor abilities to support athletic endeavor across all groups.
Through this structure, the Academy can utilise the Club’s Deductible Gift Recipient status to offer tax deduction to Academy donors and sponsors.
The Academy and its operations are captured as a Standard Operating Procedure (Surf Sport Academy) within the Club’s governance manuals (Constitution, By-Laws and Standard Operating Procedures.
