The weekly surf race is held most Saturdays at 4.15pm between November and March. It is a fully timed, marked and handicapped event open to all members, with full water cover provided by the day’s patrolling members.

Starting in front of the patrol tower; most races are 500m with two staged at 800m – one in Dec (the Christmas Half-mile) and the other in Feb. One of these must be completed to qualify for the club’s blue ribbon event at season’s end; the Club Mile… a 1.6km swim to Brighton jetty.

With the handicap system and points awarded within age categories only, it means everyone has a fair chance of winning a prize or trophy at the end of the year.
