2018 SLSA National Awards of Excellence – Oct 27 – 3 Nominees!

Congratulations & good luck to Bly Bayliss, nominated for surf sports coach of the year, and Karen Wilmot who has been nominated for assessor of the year and to Ashley Clarke, nominated for Trainer of the Year.

Brian Bayliss, Seacliff SLSC, SA

Brian has enjoyed a very successful season as coach at Seacliff SLSC. In his role as Head Coach for junior, senior and masters, Brian has guided Seacliff and state athletes to success in podium finishes at Aussies.  Brian has mentored many young members to become coaches, sharing his knowledge and developing pathways as a selector and Head Coach for the South Australia team. Brian believes in developing his athletes outside of training and highly values team building and social events for the athletes.

Ashley Clarke, Seacliff SLSC, SA

Ashley has been a truly dedicated trainer throughout the season, preparing 40 Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate candidates, 16 IRB Crew members and 15 ATV drivers. From a personal perspective, Ashley has continued his education as a trainer, gaining his Certificate IV and Training Officer Award for Advanced Resuscitation Technique Certificate and IRB as well as a Development Coach Award, specialising in IRB. Ashley has been part of his state assessor team and hopes to continue passing his knowledge on in senior training roles in the future.

Karen Wilmot, Seacliff SLSC, SA

Karen prides herself on a strong best practice policy in all assessment activities. As the Chief Instructor at Seacliff SLSC, responsible for overseeing all skills maintenance assessments, Karen has been the lead assessor for the bulk of assessments within SA.  Karen has played an integral part in understanding the needs of the many people involved in the assessment process. Karen takes pride in mentoring probationary assessors, allowing them to take the lead during assessment while providing support and encouragement.
